WOW! What is with the price of gas?

This week the gasoline prices have shot up to the highest in Canada’s history. Some stations are selling it for over $2.00 per litre, which meant an average fill up is in the $100 range.

This week the gasoline prices have shot up to the highest in Canada’s history. Some stations are selling it for over $2.00 per litre, which meant an average fill up is in the $100 range.

Compare that to three years ago when the average fill-up was $40. And the experts are saying these higher prices are the new norm.

In a way this is good – we need to curb our appetite for fossil fuels that are contributing to global warming. But in some ways…ouch! It’s like your wallet is punching you in the kidney every time you get fuel!

Add to that the expense of parking, maintenance fees, insurance costs and overall depreciation of your vehicle with use, and it’s obvious that owning a gas-powered vehicle is becoming cost prohibitive.

But we need to get from point A to point B, right? So, what’s a solution to rising gas prices?

Well, let us share another figure with you: it costs $0.10 to fuel up an electric bike.

That said, do families really need two cars? An E bike can easily take the place of that 2nd car. And it costs less than a dollar to charge a battery that can last as far as 100 kilometers depending on the terrain and how much pedaling you do.

Of course, not everyone can simply give up their car — despite the rising costs of owning an automobile, we live in a country where things are spread out and we don’t have the same public transit infrastructure as, say, Europe. So, when you hear people bring up the rising costs of gasoline and the fact there’s no end in sight to the increases, remember the magic number of $0.10 per fill-up. Yes, electric bikes are the solution to rising gas prices.

And let’s not forget that e-bikes are fun to ride. So even if you’re ok with the rising costs of fuel and just want one as a recreational vehicle, you’re still going to get a lot of value out of it. And if after considering all those factors as well as the cost-savings you decide an E bike might be a better fit for you rather than that gas-guzzling pickup truck, then please browse our selection of Slane E Bikes
